Important! : best radiator?

  1. #1
Hi im going to be replacing my radiator as there is a bad leak. However before i do i can get sorted with a replacement for my 1.1, however was told by a friend that you can get a better radiator, which will be more efficent, think he said their called nismo or something but dont quote me on that lol. bacically if there is a better aftermarket radiator out there that work with saxo that would be better than standard that i can get seen as though im replacing probs best time to do so.

Cheers need to know asap as its imortant i get the radiator sorted, if no other type then will just go for streight replacement

    Cheers

    Nissens

Keeps it around 25% cooler than standard. I got mine from 106parts, not sure if they do one for a 1.1 though

Nissens radiators are highly recommended and can be bought from 106parts.com

They cool up to 20% better than standards.

    I have just bought one

Thiunk ive found a nissen radiator for a 1.1 but ill let you guys confirm for me, here it is:

    http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.d...Name=WDVW&rd=1

    Not bad price either

It just keeps the water temperature down. If you had a temp gauge you would see that the needle sits lower down than before.

that ebay item isnt a nissens mate

cheers for the info try and remember that, want to learn engine and proformance more.

Ahh right well the pic shows the nissen logo, what makes you say it isnt?

    Cheers

Could well be this one you need but i'm not sure if the 1.1 106 ones will fit the 1.1 saxo. I know that the GTI one fits the VTS as that's what i've just bought but unsure on the 1.1's

On a 1.1 just go for a stock one!

Remember that running too cool will be bad for the engine!

Even if this is not nissens themselves, its still an alliminium radiator so should be just as good?

    running an engine too cold:

oil when cold is thicker therefore may not be able to lubricate/protect as effeciant, the car will run richer meaning you use more fuel.

Bigger, more effieciant rads are normally used on modified cars because they need the extra cooling as they run at much higher rpm levels and also increase in heat due to higher compression or forced inducted etc.

on a 1.1 id just go get a standard pattern part like your link.

the link doesn't show a pic, just a drawing, doubt for that money it's a nissens one.

radiators is more about the technology inside of them then about what it looks like on the outside.

gap size in the cooling fins and thickness of the water wells etc and metal content and quality all play a part, all of which is impossible from your link to tell.

thanks for the info helped alot ok will go with the standard

the thermostat will stop it cooling down too much. A more efficient radiator will just cool the coolant quicker than a standard one, but only once the coolant is at a high enough temperature to open the thermostat in the first place

but i do agree that on a 1.1 the standard one is sufficient

in regards to fitting a rad, any rad from the 106/saxo range will fit, you could technically fit a nissens vts rad, but as already stated that will probably do more harm than good, i have a nissens vtr rad which is up for sale its provisionally sold but im waiting to hear back from the buyer, if the sale doesn't go through would you be interested?
