   if i was to run a vts engine would i still need to play about with looms??
   just a question that i though of this morning

   do you mean will you need a new engine loom if fitting standalone ?

   ye basically... if it was stand alone then would it be able to run off the loom thats in the car at the moment and of the sensors on the engine....
   
   what doesnt help all this is i dont fully understand the whole loom/engine link lol
   i take it the loom is everything that goes from the steering column to the plug in part/ interior fuses then out to the engine sensors/ ecu??

   the engine loom connects to the main car loom behind the passenger headlight. IT basically runs from behind the headlight, around the gearbox engine mount, along the back of the gearbox and engine, then up and onto the Ecu.
   
   It depends on which standalone Ecu you buy?
   
   People seem to just cut off the standard engine loom ECU plug, and attach the wires into the standalone Ecu plug and go from there.

   and with throttle bodies you wouldnt need to run a fuel return?

   you'll need a vts loom if you fit a vts engine.
   
   Depends on your fuel rail but 99% - yes.

   lame thats the only thing iam not confident with lol... i can do basic mechanics... swap things over... but wireing bits in is a no go for me

   If you buy the right loom it is plug and play (The only thing that maybe needs wiring up is the radiator fan)
   
   You can save your money by doing most of it, and let someone else do the wiring.
   
   Wiring is the sort of thing that if you're not confident at doing it, then don't try it. It can take longer for someone to diagnose what's wrong with wiring that someones had a go at, than do it themselves.

   ye thats what iam thinkin if i buy all the parts get the loom put in then i drop the engine in thats it....
   
   sounds so easy like that but i know iam bound to start and never get it finnished
