Important! : Gear stick seems loose!

   Sorry for the 'important' tag! I'm on my iPhone and it won't let you start a thread without one!
   
   Anyway, my gear stick seems really loose like maybe one of the ball joints has gone from under the car!
   Gearbox sounds rough in reverse and when I'm engine breaking in 2nd.
   
   Hope my gearbox ain't knackered.
   
   Any ideas?

   sounds to me as if the gbox is knackered, thats the first symptoms i got

   could also be the bearings? and gear linkages?

   I'm hoping it's linkages. How hard/easy are they to check/change?

   Check:
   Gear linkage's
   Selector pin (located on back of g/box)
   Pin and bush's directly under the gear stick
