Exhaust Creek & Not Sounding To It's Potential

Hi, i have a SS Race Centre Section to a Ashley 3 Inch Backbox, i watched a video yesterday with the exact same setup with standard CAT and for some reason it sounded very Raspy, also when i drive slow and change gear the exhaust creeks like fuuuuke, could this do with anything that the centre pipe hasnt been put on right or the nuts and bolts arent tight enough?.

Probably your engine moving a lot when you rev it - normally can be sorted by fitting a harder lower gearbox bush/mount:

    it's the lower engine bush I think - £28

mind sounded it like it was the spring in the bolts where u clamp the center to the mani, just tighten them up but still makes a bit of noise

cheers will have a look later

The springs are there to help keep the join in contact when the engine moves, causing the exhaust to pivot on the join.

If they are noisy then you either need to try and grease them up, or minimize the engine movement.

my exhaust used to do this, i had to sort my backbox out so it sat straight and put a shorter exhaust rubber on one side now it doesnt make the noise

I was thinking of doing the same, i got my dad to rev my car whilst i was laid looking underneath and the noise 100 percent definate come from the centre pipe / cat joint, any ideans people?..

What I did was I put grease onto the springs and this fixed the creaking noise you get.

Meaning the springs on the joint where the centre pipe connects to the cat?.

The springs which connect to the manifold.

Sorted the problem out lads and lasses, the bolts up front werent tight enough so tightened them up and also fitted cable ties to the hangers on the exhaust for that bit of support, no more creeks and for some reason the exhaust has got raspy, i think it was blowing up front because the joints wernt tight enough.
