Fuel Gauge issue

To start iv done a 16v conversion on my furio and had only the fuel gauge working but sorted the other dials out so they all work fine but now my fuel gauge has packed up, the sender unit works. When i turn the ignition on the red ligth comes on and it bounced up 3 times then just sits on the bottom. What could this be? Please help.
