Oil and Coolant Light Come On Under Hard Cornering

  1. #1
I first noticed this about 2 months ago. I was turning into a parking space at tescos and my oil and coolant lights came on briefly and then went off. However, since that day its being happening alot more frequently, even when going round roundabouts at 15MPH

Both the Oil and Cooling are fine and it even does it from a cold start so i know its not over-heating.

Does anybody have any ideas what it is or how to fix it? Its confusing when you dont notice the oil light come on as the sun is shining on it or something as i thought it was overheating earlier.

Are you sure its not the low brake fluid light? Not being sarcastic mate btw.

Nah mate, its the coolant one on the left of the speedo, and the oil one on the right or the clock (or tacho)

Theres a case of it here, but it doesnt look like it was resolved

hmm, got me stumped fella. iirc temp light is activated by ecu but oil light is activated by oil switch directly so can not pin the fault on one component or issue.

If ecu handled both warning lights then I would be looking at the ecu multi plug(s) connections for corrosion or moisture. Maybe even have a look inside ecu case for damp etc.

Please correct me if I am wrong.

I would have thought the coolant level sensor is part of the car loom. the temp guage sensor (blue plug) for the dash is seperate from the ECU temp guage sensor (green plug) so doubt its ECU related. I know that when I have low oil my pressure light comes on under harsh cornering, but topping up the oil cures it everytime and I would have thought similar for the coolant level. The only other thing I can think of is that the wiring is earthing itself somewhere but I would expect this to cause the light to come on over bumps etc.

Can't realy give you much more help I'm afraid other than maybe changing the sensors and seeing if that helps

Its an older diesel model so it doesnt have a ECU, i wanted to fit it with a tacho but i cant due to this. Ill try having a look at the senors, ill also disconnect my footwell lights as i cant remember if it started happening before or after i installed these. They could be interfering with the electricals or something
