Idling highly? And Stiff Brakes?

   Ok guys, my car is revving high ish, just under 2k, obviously this isn't normal, aswell as this, every time I start the car the next day the brakes are as stiff as hell, something at the back of the engine snapped, a cable, which p*sses out air, so i'm guessing this is to do with it?
   
   
   Does anyone know where I can get a replacment? And how much it's roughly going to cost?

   Sounds like the brake servo diaphragm (black dish thing at the back of engine bay) has split allowing unmetered air into the engine giving you a high and likely rough idle and no brake assistance. Running your car in this state is not good becasue it will be running way to lean.
   
   I hope you have got small hands because it's quite tight replacing the brake servo.

   Running lean means either to much air or not enough fuel, engine will run hot and at worst will melt a hole in piston.
   
   Might be worth going to a garage and letting them check it out fella

   bollocks stevo you sort it out for him you obviously know everrything. you came of with a servo diaphram and that aint what the question was to start of with that doesnt sound like a vaccum pipe to me are you reading your answers out of a haynes manual

   just get another black rubber hose the same as the one that broke, you could do it yourself 2 minutes.few quid

   The Brake servo operates on vaccum from the inlet hence the stiff pedal. The split pipe will be drawing air into the inlet manifold engine side of the throttle body causing the fast idle. Saxos dont use an air flow meter so its unlikely to cause any other problems.
   
   Its a 5 min fix, but personally id use the proper pipe from citroen.

    servo hose is reinforced though remeber a normal hose will not do
