I polished my car at weekend and did it how your meant to. Just bin out to my car and the bonnet has like loads of round circles on it like when i polished it. Just wondered why its done that i no its oviously to do with the cold but how come it gone back to the circle marks. I finished the polish off in straight lines just a bit confused. Or is it somethng completly different ?
Just a quick question.

#2did u buff it up or just apply it?
Push harder mon! -
#3i did push hard and i applyed it and buffed it at the weekend. Just don't no why the cold is showin the circle marks.
-
#4more elbow grease needed by the sounds of it, unless you didnt apply it properly
-
#5it wont damage my car though will it
-
#6depend how coarse the polish is, what you using?
-
#7autoglym super resin polish
-
#9the marks dispear i no the cold is showin them up. Just strange they werent there today now they are in the cold
-
#11soft cloths mate. How do u apply it ? Might be doing something wrong
-
#12you may be buffing it off with something too brutal, just get some microfibres and you wont have any issues
-
#13no mate its not that i use the softest cloth when buffing it off and applying it. Maybe i'm doing it wrong. I apply it with a very soft cloth and apply it in round circles. I do one section of the car in circles. Then go bac to the start and buff it off in straight lines is this right ?
-
#14i personally apply and buff off in circles, but i am by no means an expert lol. i am very happy with my results though
if your scratches are very deep then you could get it machine polished or use something coaser such as paint renovator, this is very coarse so care is needed lol -
#15lol don't have the money for a machine polisher mate would'nt mind someone doing it for me for free ???? Proberly no takers though lol. Thanks for your help anyway mate u in louth atm will look out for your car when i'm about.

#18If he meant that then the buffin cloth is too course. I thought he meant circles as in it looked like polish was reappearing in circles couse of the cold etc lolQuote:

#19lol was'nt talking about swirl marks but thanks anyway. Its just the cold was showing where i had polished just didnt no why.
-
#20it is also a possibiliy that the paint was too hot when you polised the car, either do it in the shade or do parts of the car at a time
-
#22paint was 2 hot can this damage it u think ? It was a very hot day on sunday.
-
#23if the paint was hot then chances are then the polish dried too fast on the bodywork. next time let it cool down in the shade for best results

sorry for the confusion, it was hard to tell from your first post what exactly you was on about

#27i'll have a look at your progress thread now mate an yer i no what you mean about the saxo fetish. Quite a few seem to go round and round when i'm there lol. I have seen a nice icelandic one which is way over priced in a garage coming out of louth you seen it ?

no joke mate that is my old car from two years ago, i bought my current vts and went round the local garages to see what they would give for a quick sale to get rid of the vtr and he offered me a lot thinking it was worth 3.2k. he advertised it for 3.2k for ages and now its at 2.5k. the car is in very good condition tbh
here proof of me driving it, notice the same stickers in rear quarters

#29HAHAHAHAHAHA fuckin unreal. Can't belive it was your car. I always look at it on the way past thinking it's a nice car. I kept on thinking they were saxp stickers on it but then relised they werent. Can't actually belive it was your old car what are the chances. You say its in good nick its gotta be low milage then is that why he's selling it for that or is it just over priced. Was thinking about making him an offer for about 1500 lol but gna finish my car atm. Your vts looks sweet mate just bin looking at it you should de wiper it or have you done that now ?
-
#30i know its a coinsidence lol, it had 67k from what i can remember, it was average mileage at the time i sold it but thats low now as its been stood ages.Quote:HAHAHAHAHAHA fuckin unreal. #31doubt he would take 1500 though he proberly looking for a very good price on it seem as he payed a fair bit suppose he wouldnt want to lose out. Be careful if u do de wiper it. Hope your wiper isnt rusted on like mine was had to get out the saw was a right pain. Your insurance on a vts must be a killer mate at 21.
-
#32well he gave me 2200 for it so he has already lost out, he will have to cut his losses soon and sell up tbh. i was expecting crap offers from garages untill i went to him so i handed him the keys in a heartbeat lolQuote:doubt he would take 1500 though he proberly looking for a very good price on it seem as he payed a fair bit suppose he wouldnt want to lose out. i keep my car very very well maintained mate (ive worked on cars most of my life). it will slip right off as it has grease behind it, i did this 6weeks ago and when i first got the car
it was crappy as when it got it i was 19 but its ok now. -
#332200 lucky u mate think i know where i'm taking my car saying that though he's more then likely learnt from his mistake. Would love a vts one day maybe in a few years. I'm hoping to learn more about cars was thinking about going to lincoln college and taking a mechanics course need to save up a fair bit to fund it though. Do you do any spraying or getting dints out or owt like that ?
-
#34probably lol
ive done some bodywork smoothing in the past but i always leave the painting to proffessionals lol, my first car was a heavily modded corsa and i did all the smoothing on it myself.
edit i would post up pics but im embarrassed lol as its seen as chavvy now -
#35you sprayed any alloys mate if so you got any tips about the spraying and put the pics up would be a laugh
