Driver side lock problem

  1. #1
9 times out of 10 when i press the button on my key fob to lock the doors the drivers side will not lock and i will have to lock it manually,

is their anything i can check in the door mechanism to see if there is a fault?

it does work on the odd occasion but most of the time it doesn't.

sorry to bump an old thread but i still have this problem it happens everytime now,

pressing the keyfob will open both doors fine but locking will only work on the passenger door and the boot,

    any suggestions?

ok i still have this problem, i cant check right now as its in the garage but now everytime i lock my car with the fob i have to use the key to lock the drivers door.

also my boot will only open with the fob, ive tried wd40 lots of twisting and turning and it wont open, the lock pushes in but it will not unlock,

    please can someone help ?

check the wires that go in your door, there may be one broken

a bit vauge there, which wires exactly? near the hinge? beside the lock?

should i take the door panel off and see if anything is preventing it ?

as for the boot, ive still not found a solution, surely someone must have had the same problem ?

Hi, i know how annoying this can be. Have just had simular probs my self!! Take the door pannel on the inside off and check the solonoide. This is a black box with some wires connecting on to it. This will automaticly move up and down when its told too to push the locking mechanism. Mine has just stoped working so take it out and check that it still moves up and down when you press the key fob!! Hope this helps!!

Yh, that probs meant that it was on its way out and then just decided to give up. Mine went a few days ago, so i swapped it for the the boot one, as thats not so important!!

Right, first things first. You will need to remove the door card to access the solenoid inside. There will be 3 screws on show that you will have to remove to be able to take the door panel off. The first screw is inside the door pull, the second is under the speaker cover (just use a flat head screwdriver to GENTLY leaver out the speaker cover), and the third is were the door card meats the interior (kinda under the wing mirror but inside the car). Once you have removed all 3 screws the panel will be held on by plastic clips. Use your finger or a screwdriver to GENTLY leaver at each point of the clip. Do this very carefully as they a very delicate and can snap very easily.
The top part of the door card is held on by a seal kinda thing by the window. When all the clips are undone pull the door card up towards the top of the door. With a bit of wiggling the door card should finally come free!

When this is off there will be an insulating cover that hides the gap you will need to use to access the solenoid. Gently unpeel this and look for a little black box with a white top surrounded in rubber. (This should move up and down). When you have found this little black box, feel the white top and press the key fob. This should move up and down. If it doesn't that will be your problem.
To put back together just push the protective cover in place, clip on the door panel and screw back in place.
    Hope this helps, Good luck!!!!

mate. I had this exact problem with my drivers door not locking. You find if you push the door handle in, for some reason it works.... However recently i've de pinned my both doors and problem disappeared. Locks every time now with fob.
