Uprated Oil Pump Spring

A common mod for the 205 engines is to add a higher pressure pump spring to pump more oil round quicker (Group A spring is normally called) and also people do it on the Mi engines to get oil to the head.

Just wondering.... does anyone know if there is a spring on the market for a Saxo motor? Dont want my engine getting starved

i never seem an uprated oil pump for a saxo.

i fitted a brand new oil pump, with new chain to make sure it was 100%.

but i dnt know if there is any uprated ones.

How much and where from?

Ill defo be getting a brand new pump, but the spring inside can be uprated in say a 205 engine so I thought it would be a good mod for a saxo engine

i got all my parts from Hi flow heads.

and yer, it very intresting if you can, would be very good to get the oil pressure higher to help flow around the engine.

well tell me know if you can do that, might be worth looking in to in the winter!

As far as I'm aware the tu's don't have the oil supply to the head problem like the older 205 engines did/do?

It makes you wander if it's needed - it would be easy to compare, when I get a chance I'll have a look on servicebox to see if they give any info.

I agree I haven't heard anything either but for the sake of £10 it maybe worth the investment lol. Im not 100% sure its needed but for a race/rally engine it could save £££ lol.

Just got off the phone to Andy, he is gonna look into it for me. Im gonna take a spare oil pump I got at home apart tonight for a dig about.

Interesting topic. Would it increase the flow rate only or would it also increase the amount of oil likely to be in the head? Just wondering if there would be any chance of less oil in the sump or would it not be significant enough to warrent worrying about.

Very valid point.

By pumping oil round quicker it could make less oil somewhere else, but the way I see it is that it does pump it round faster as the oil galleries can only hold a certain amount oil?

Take that 205 one for example, it ups the oil pressure to 6 bar which is a fair amount.

Also the idea of the spring is to "relieve" the pressure from the pump as the pump could deliver any amount of pressure, the spring "sets" the pressure and keeps it constant.

Thats the way I see it...

the standard pump is good for 75 psi ish isnt it colin? which is iver 5 bar.

Surely increasing the pressure will only add to the problem of the high pressure oil feed leaking at the headgasket. Front left.

The standard TU oil delivery is perfectly adequate in my experience. Increasing the relief pressure will increase the load on the pump drive, which is a weak point already and probably more likely to lead to engine failure than leaving it standard. I don't wish to sound high and mighty, but if the engine is built correctly and adequate baffling fitted, the oil system should work perfectly.
The uprated oil pump spring used on 205 XU engines is a crude fix to broader engine design issues that I'm not going to give away here, but suffice to say that the TU is a better design and doesn't have the same issues.

while a thread like this is floating around does anybody know if i can get a oil pressure switch that has a higher activation point?

so say as standard the oil pressure has to drop to 25 psi before activating the light, the new one only has to drop to 50psi giving an earlier indication?

would be usefull as i dont want to fit a pressure gauge as there is no place for it to go and look neat
