what are the first things any of you's would upgrade on a vts? nothing looking for styling advice more performance and handling advice. like mounts, induction, suspension etc
What are the must haves?
-
#1
-
#2manifold
throttle boddies
race cams
remap
uprated ecu
bmc cda intake
thats a good start lol -
#3how much are throttle bodies?
i always thought the best thing to start with was with a decent suspension setup -
#4sorry dude, didnt know you wanted the first thing to do.
i personally would get some better brakes and good suspension setup and dampers
then start tuning the engine bay -
#5would this be good to start with- Apex Sports Suspension Kit (-35mm) from kam racing
http://www.kamracing.co.uk/index.php...saxo-35mm.html -
#6i dont think you will find them any cheaper,
i know a lot of people with these and they seem to think they are good, -
#7what size alloys have you got on there?
-
#8car isnt actually bought yet thats why am looking advice but il be keeping the standard vts rims
-
#9if your going to lower it find out how much people have lowered theres on vts rims as i personally dont think 35 is enough but thats just my opinion
-
#10Thottle bodies are around a grand but ideali u wud new standaloe ecu an then mayaswell put cams in, but person I wud start to walk befor u can run, like above, somthing like the spec kit susspention wise, brake wise go for 266mm brake or if Ivan aford it then brembo off a 406 v6, then with the engine start with basi breather mods 421 manifold straight though exhaust and a bmc, then if u won't more go fr tbs cams ect
-
#11the first thing id tackle with a vts is handling, you dont need to make it faster as soon as you get it.
get some springs, shocks, no more than 45mm or you will comprimise handling, if you want to go for looks then go 60mm
get some lightweight wheels such as 1.2s etc
uprated bushes,
bigger brakes
then consider engine imo
mine is down 40mm, have a look at pg 3 of my progress thread, please comment
garry -
#12Suspension, standard stuff will more than likely be worn out anyway.
-
#13more info req on what you plan to use it for
-
#14Make sure you can stop before you look to 'GO'
Make sure cooling is sufficient and then work on suspension and handling imo...
Strutt braces
no more than 40mm lowering kit (full kit)
poly bushes and spoox wishbone mounts
no point in having a fast car if you have to slow down for the corners loads...
then do breathing stuff
BMC CDA
Manifold
Decat
Straight through centre section and backbox...
then look at cams, bodies etc... etc... or cheat and buy a NOS setup
thats just my advice anyways... and before anyone says it yes thats pretty much what I did with mine!
Stripping it too is always good as its free

#16The bmc would be redundant if you got throttle bodies. Unless you got a plenum setup, which in most cases restricts the benefits of them and are only needed on turbo applications.
-
#17wont be going lower then 35mm not really after looks.
am gonna start with suspension, strut, and bushes etc. -
#18Brakes - no need to go overkill like 4-pots unless you are going serious power on the engine so just a 283mm from gti-6
Suspension - adjustable is always good, I have the Spax PSX on mine atm and for road use they are good and can't fault them (can also get some ast adjustable top mounts) -
#205 wheels are pritty must haves
