    sprayed my alloys
    turned out excellent
apart from accidently spraying white primer on my dark blue paint.
tried polish to get it off and it doesnt work
    any advice??

You sprayed them on the car?
  4. #4
you need a mild / agressive detailing clay.

it was windy, and yeh sprayed them on the car. if you do thin coats layer by layer you get no running and its cost me £12 rather than proffessionally and ive done a pretty good job.
just minus the wind spray of primer on the arch lol

G3 cutting compound mate, available from halfords(sometimes),or your local paint stockist,it will fetch it straight off, without harming your paint.

Did this yesterday. Had slight overspray, don't know how bad yours is, mine was light, I got it of with petrol. Worked fine.

LOL at people painting things in situ. It's not hard to remove things, hardly takes any time. and the finish you get is so much better.

Do you have any positive comments to give people? The last couple I've seen are pointless and a waste of time.
Posting pointless spam will only get your post count reduced or an infraction.

Answer to OP, try a very fine wet sand and polish maybe. Or as J22 said you could clay it?

My posts mean that people won't do it next time. I could have just written "FAIL" and left it there. I have a lot of positive comments if you'd like to do your research and not arguing over a couple of posts you saw recently. I merely pointed out that to get a decent finish on his/her wheels it would be so much better to remove them and paint them away from anything you're worried about getting overspray on OR if you can take them inside away from the wind/dust/general crap. They're obviously painting the wheels to make them look better but in doing so they're ending up with a bodge which will look worse than if they left them in their original state.

I would have added to using clay or if it's to bad some seriously fine paper and buffing. I didn't see the point as it had been covered well enough for the original poster to get it sorted.

just use acetone or somthing you can use ANYTHING virtually on car paint it wont damage the stuff. when i used to work in a body shop we used to use Paint thinner to get over spray off fresh paint. never used to budge what soever.

Just get some white spirit on it. if its can primer its piss easy to get off.

I agree on the bad idea of painting the rims on the car though. you'd get paint on your calipers and crap ... not good really ...

unless you used it with a scouring pad or used paint stripper anything like that wouldnt touch the paint ... and if it did slightly it would polish out.

only thing you never want on a car is vinegar, it kills the clear coat

When I said 'i did this yesterday', I meant bodywork.. can't really take the body of the body :/.

But I agree.... Why would you paint them on the car, you need them of to for preparation really, I wouldn't of even though about doing it with them on.
