    Sup all,

    Just wondering if when you're next getting into your car, you crack on the fan speed nob on the centre console, and then switch through the ignition barrel clicks and tell me at what point the ventilation fan kicks in?

    I've got a suspect relay problem that's all.

    Do you mean when does the blowers come on. If so its when the engine is running ???

    As above, Blowers don't start till engine is running.

    what about 2nd click, whatever the fuck it's called?


    You've got:

    0 - Off
    1 - Battery light so Radio works and that shit
    2 - Fuel Pump primes - dashboard wakes up - normal running mode.
    3 - Starter Motor goes for launch.

    mine kick in at 2 before I've even turned the ol' engine over.

    I believe mine start on the second click-when all the dash lights illuminate. Mines a 3 plug as well.

    We've had 3x 3 plugs and they've all been the same: blower only works when engine is running.

    Just gone and checked and the blowers kick in on the second click, when the "dashboard wakes up".

    so the blowers fire on the second click, no engine running?

    All the ones I've seen need the engine running for the blowers to work.

    I know this isn't going to be any help but in the AX blowers and engine fan work on 1st click, if that circuit fails they don't work (I have had that problem) even at the other stages. But, all electrics in the car should work from stage 2 (provided stage one is ontact also) without the engine running as stage 3 is literaly just a switch for the starter and the car continualy runs in stage 2 as this merely creates a circuit for power to run the in car fuse box

    My old 3 plug needed the engine running for the blowers to run. ( '03 1.1i )

    I've had my fair share of mk2 Y+ reg VTR's lol (more than most).

    Heaters only work when engine is on.

    nope it's interesting man

    So could there be a spate of failed relays (looking at the haynes here) amongst the 3-plug contingency?


    Ok of those people who get the blowers kicking in without the engine being on, do you have the battery light on even with the engine on?

    I've got an 03 pug 1.1 and mine work on the 2nd click of the ignition!

    Random! Think the frenchies just wired them according to how they felt on that particular day.

    my old red 3 plug vtr used to go on the 2nd clicK!! and now my posi 3 plag goes when engine is running.

    Not quite sure what you mean but I will have a go.

    1st click-Battery light on
    2nd click-Battery light on and blowers kick in
    3rd click/engine running-Battery light not on and of course blowers on

    Its definately interesting as like I say the 3rd stage on the barrel is a non permanent connection, if you bridge it this merely engages the starter motor. 1 and 2 are permanent connections which remain on once the barrel is rotated.

    BUT.....

    Having said that the starter feed for the last 3plug I wired not long ago does run to the ECU and from there to the ignition relay and back out to the starter wheres my single plug loom does not go through the ECU so maybe this is some sort of pointless safe mode installed by citroen to prevent them from burning out or draining battery power.
