More BHP wanted For my Furio

Im starting to consider engine mods for my furio to increase BHP .. any ideas people which you would recommend?

    How bigs your budget.?

you'll get everyone say get a VTR/VTS engine in it because its true!
a set of cams is nearly £200 before fitting/headgasket/timing belt kit your looking nearly £300+ just do it yourself, then a decent map say £200 minimum.

could get you a MINTER of a VTS engine + S2 rallye gearbox for that pal

I was considering a VTS engine upgrade but wasnt sure how much it would set me back u have an idea?.. budget anywhere under 1k.

Go for the vts engine and S2 box off Lew_C.. Be a good starting point to build progress on. You got pics of your furio.??

what are you trying to achieve? If you are happy with your engine and want a little more power then do some modifications to that.
If you are obsessed with bhp then you are going to need a vts engine.

The furio and vtr seem to respond very well to an aftermarket exhaust system, so I would get hold of something like a raceland for mk1

or if you have a mk2
    http://www.kamracing.co.uk/index.php...xo-8v-mk2.html

then combined with our race system you are looking at 11-15bhp
    http://www.kamracing.co.uk/index.php...st-system.html

Then look at an induction kit or panel filter

A camshaft is nice, but it depends on your fuel bills.
Theres nothing wrong with a tuned 8v.

ive got a tuned 8v and it goes like stink!
however all the money thats been spent in the long run just to be as fast as a VTS is standard with the unreliability of having the car tweaked to within an inch of its life lol

If the modifications are not too extreme then there is no real issue with reliability.
Does it really matter that a 16v tuned is faster...not really. Theres always something faster.

Suppose you are right really but can you see what i mean, all that engine work when i could have just S lumped it for if anything more power? lol

when i had my gasket skimmed, i went for the port and polish, resitting vavles, and because its servied like clock work, with just a de-cat, induction kit, it now goes very nicely indeed, but because i havent tuned it up too much, on the motoway, i still get good mpg

I understand completely. I guess I have been there trying to get the fastest car I can on the road. Now i'm more for choosing the engine I want and getting it to run as best I can.
My friends are building 2.2 and 2.4 litre engines for their pugs, and i'm building a 1.6 but getting every last horsepower I can out of it..
I'll have just as much fun driving, but wont match their top speed. I'm not bothered about top speeds any more, just high averages .

Suppose thats what it's all about!
what is your build consisting of then?

    mines a 1.6 XU 16v engine.
    Basically a 1.9 mi16 or 306 XSi block, 306 gti-6 head, 205 1.6 gti crank, custom rods and pistons.
If I can get the funds together i'll run throttlebodies, I have a dry sump, race flywheel and numerous other bits to limit parasitic losses. Maybe it will have 180bhp. I'll be starting the initial temporary engine which is the standard 306 1.8 xsi bottom end but that should get near 200bhp.
