Important! : Hissing noise when accelerating

  1. #1
Hi guys right i dont have the saxo anymore but own a mk1 mondeo at the moment and when i accelerate a loud hissing noise is coming from engine area. The harder i accelerate the louder the hiss, and when i take my foot off accelerater it quietens down, also i have lost speed due to this too.

I put it on here as my mondeo forum login isnt working.

    Thanks in advance

sounds like an air leak mate, check the inlet manifold while the car is running, as there could ba a vacume pipe off, does the car stall at all?

hi mate well it idles fine most of the time the only time it didnt was when we had that cold snap with all the snow then it stalled in traffic, but i will check intake, i didnt know if it could have been a gasket? like on manifold? if so would that cause the hissing?

yea that would definatly cause hissing, and would also cause running problems, possible increased idle speed and loss of power, as an air leak after the air mass meter( air flow sensor) will cause incorrect fueling , try to have a real good look around the manifold whilst somebody revs the engine, there is a good chance youl be able to locate the fault, i take it your car in naturally aspirated being a mk1 mondeo
