Broken Fuel Gauge

   My fuel gauge stopped working the other week when I filled up and is now stuck exactly on halfway, doesn't move even when the ignition is off.
   
   Any ideas what the problem is?
   
   I'm not sure if the reserve/fuel light is linked as it hasn't come on yet done 285 to the tank so far don't want to risk it much longer. Normally get to about 350 but I drive it quite far on the red light.

   If the gauge sticks on half way then more than likely it is your gauge at fault. However to find if your empty light indicator works or not, then sython or drain your fuel tank to see if the light illuminates. If the light does not come on when you have drained the fuel and the needle still reads half, then you have a continuous feed to the fuel sender unit and the float is either stuck or the sender unit is knackered.

   Cheers for the reply, will drive it until the light comes on or runs out of fuel (will carry some spare in a jerry can) hopefully that'll tell me what's at fault.

   the live to the sender unit goes from the actual dial dont it? if it does that explains why my gauge dont read and theres no power getting to the sender.
