please please help gearbox oil

    Hi there guys replaced a broken front spring today and whilst doing it a drive shaft popped out and i lost a fair bit of oil. Could someone please tell me where abouts i fill it up and what grade oil to use. Thanks joe

    Where abouts is the gearbox oil reservoir? cheers

    There isn't a reservoir, the gearbox is the reservoir. The filling point should be on the top side. 2 litres from empty i think

    as above, 2L of 75w-80. While your there you mights well drain the whole gearbox and renew the fluids.

    Jack car up and remove passenger side wheel. Look straight forward towards the gearbox and you will see two circles with 10mm squares in the middle and the circles are about 10p in size. One further up the gearbox and one lower down. The top one is till fill up the bottom one to drain gearbox oil. Also the square hole inside the circular plugs is the same size as the bar inside an average door handle so no need to buy a plug tool. Hope that helps, really is easy to do.

    ontop of gear box just were the power steering pipes run under the battery ther is a small cylindrical bit of plastic pull it up and that the filling point.if you wanted you could take the battery out altogether might be a bit handier.i hope andy 8v doesnt charge by the hour

    How do you check how much is in there I did my clutch yesterday and put a liter in but I don't know how much was on there. Help please

    Fill it up slowly until it runs out of the bottom hole as mentioned above mate

    You can refill it using the breather as well as the upper 10p size hole mate yes but you must check the level as described otherwise you might overfill it.

    if yo u used the drain bung on the bottom of the box you wouldnt have to worry about finding the level
