Noises after service & repairs

  1. #1
    Hey all,

Just put my VTR in for some work and a full service with my local Citroen garage. £680 later my car is making some odd noises...

It had these repairs carried out:

    - CV Gaitor Replaced Nearside (Split/Leak)
    - Front Downpipe & Gasket Replaced (Cracked Weld)

Now 150 miles later Im hearing a strange KNOCK coming from the front area of the car whenever i go round a corner faster than 10mph. It's a quick knock, sometimes followed by another knock once the wheels are straightend. It only does it when moving. It did NOT do this before the service/repairs.

Also, I now get a loud squeeky rattle coming from the downpipe/exhaust area. It will do it stationary or moving and ALWAYS in 3rd Gear @ 2100rpm.

Any advice would be appreciated!.. Especially on where I stand on taking this back to them to fix it at no extra cost!

Take it back to them and tell them the problems you've had since getting the car back

chances are they have disturbed all bushes and joints when sorting the cv boot

    £680....

Dirt/grit could have got in when the CV boot was off. If so, you need a new driveshaft.

I'm not going to comment on that, lol

Just take the car back to them - you've paid for work to be done and you've got problems now, tell them to fix it.

They should atleast fix the exhaust noise for free.

The knock is debatable as like Tom says, prob as they've disturbed it - if you push hard enough I'm sure they'd fix it for free

£680 is for Full Service, MOT, CV Gaitor, Downpipe, Brakes etc.. by a Citroen Garage!..

(It went four years with no service, so naturaly alot of work has been done)

Doubt it's dirt/grit as it would have to be ALOT to make this kind of noise..

I'll keep in mind what you've all said and take it back to them tomorrow! Wish me luck!

Saxo's become money pits mate, if you plan on keeping it a while i suggest you buy a haynes manual and have a go at some of the stuff yourself. Just a suggestion though matey.

Most jobs on a saxo are pretty easy aslong as you have a couple spanners, socket-set, big screwdriver, molegrips, and a big hammer.

Good luck - just be strong with them

Remember they make money on parts, not just labour

Well, after a quick ten minute look Citroen have no idea what it is..

It's now booked in for a few hours on Saturday so hopefully all will be revealed then!

On a side note, I had another look today and I personaly think it could be an Engine Mount that sits near the downpipe, that would at least explain the in-consistancy of the noise..

It couldn't be the joint the "fixed" could it. Grease has came out and now your hearing the effects ??

in my experience you should always check work thats supposed to be done as been done!!!
