Keep the rim tape or take it off? (Poll)

  1. #1
I want to know what people opinions are on the wheel tape, some people say it looks sh*t and makes the wheels look tacky, and some say that it looks good and adds colour to the wheels, all comments welcome. I have a pic of the rim tape when my car is lowered, and one when it wasn't, i don't have a pic of my car without the rim tape lowered.
    With rim tape, lowered:

With rim tape, before it was lowered:

Without rim tape, at standard height:

    Better with !!

Looks a lot better without. Especially if it's currently lowered. The tape does look tacky.
  4. #4

  10. #10
Lose the tape. Gloss black VTR rims are one of the only colours which look far better without tape
  11. #11
If the majority of people think I should remove the tape, i'm going to do so tomorrow morning.
  12. #12
    keep it looks good
  13. #13

  14. #14

  15. #15
wow thats quite something, massively split opinions on saxp. Might not be a first but i dont see it often.

    I say keep it.
  16. #16
Thanks bud, i think im gonna keep it, as not many saxo's in my area have it
  17. #17
keep the tape. adds a bit of extra color
  18. #18
There are so many different choices, if you keep it it makes the wheels look smaller yet adds a little bit of colour to the black or remove it and have bigger looking wheels but less colour. why not remove the rim tape and paint the calipers and drums red?
  19. #19
Because them my car basically say's "Hey, check out my shit brakes" lol
  20. #20

now makes sense lol ive got rim tape on mine and i wash my wheels and dont have any probs with it comin up or flappin about how did you apply it?
  36. #36
theres only one way to put them on isnt there? And i think it maybe because of the jetwash, i use it to get the thick of the dirt off, but have stopped using it on my wheels.
  37. #37
lool well like prep work and that i used washed mine first then dryed and used a heat gun to apply it and it aint even bubbled up anywere and that was done about 4-5 months ago and they get washed about 2-3 times aweek
and that might be why then alot of pressure on somthin that small could fetch it up spose
  38. #38
yeah, mine are just stuck on normally.

Try vinyl buddy, i have vinyl as the lip on my alloys and a centre chevron and ive washed mine for the last year and they havent come off at all. The bike rimtape doesnt have alot of stick to it from what ive seen and becauee the wheels are glossy itll just peel off. I went to a vinyl company to have my roof done and they cut some strips and done the wheels for me too, harder wearing and apparently has a 7 year warranty to it

IMO on black wheels the tape breaks up the black from the alloy and tyres and gives it a bit of colour

  42. #42
is that all one piece? or have you put a few parts around the wheel?
  43. #43
    it all one piece
took ages trying to keep it round lol
  44. #44
may cost abit more, but could you take it to a place tht dose car vinly's and get them to make you a perfect round vinly then put tht on, if they messured it good should look spot on tht way?
  45. #45

ebay mate, just search for alloy wheel tape, mine is 9mm
  47. #47
Having the same problem buddy i like the tape but then with it on it detracts from the fact the car is lowered and looks a little too euro/showy which isn't the look im going for.
  48. #48
I say keep it, but if you can get some thinner stuff.

I just got some 3mm yellow stuff so should be a lot more subtle.
  49. #49
    i like tape off tbh.
  50. #50
get rid of it. looks odd with suck a big tyre wall.
  51. #51
Looks shit on ur car tbh - take it off
  52. #52
Make the wheels look colour coded without being over powering. Keep it
