Matte black/ satin black question?

    Whats the difference?
i want my grill and some other parts painted black. but i dont want gloss black or matt, sort've in between. Am i right in thinking satin black is what i want?

Also as i want a good few layers of laquer on there to stop stone chips, will satin black laquered become too glossy? am i better off putting laquer over matte black, so then it wont be matt but it wont be too gloss.
i know it sounds confusing but im a tad confused myself lol someone clear this up for me please

You will want 3 or 4 coats of gloss black, which has the shine to it, matt black is the dull version. After that do another 3 coats of lacquer. An the begin with you need 3 coat of grey primer for the best colour

Satin is like a shiny matt finish, i'd say thats what you'd want. Where as matt is not shiny and gloss is shiny.

am i right in thinking adding laquer to satin turns it into gloss, but adding laquer to matt turns it into satin? or am i talking out my arse lol
