    Hey guys

im not to technically minded so bear with me :L

when i start my car up (vtr) on a cold start the noise coming from the engine bay sounds dreadfull abit like a diesel engine any ideas what it could be ? or should it sound abit like that ? (have'nt owned the car for long :L)

P.s everything is completely standard in the engine bay

IMO need to check tappit clearences. Load of info on here about it and how to set them up. Haynes manual explains it really well also.

    Hi Stefan,

Also, check that it has got enough good quality oil.

Yeah i would be checking your clearances and using a good quality oil, but if the problem stil persists you could possibly looking at a weak oil pump, when the oil is cold and thicker then the pump might not be able to get the oil upto the top end fast enough, until the engine warms up and the oil thins, just a possibility

    Oil thickens under heat btw

what mileage is it? could just be a generally worn engine if the sound lessens when its warm
