Debadged Mk1 Grill

Does anyone else have problems with there engines getting on the hot side? I think the grill is causing it?
If I were to cruise at 90 down the motorway it's not far off the red light.

Doubt it. Hardly any cooling from the grill hence why the mk2 euro boys smooth over them. Can't think of what the problem could be though.

Might have an air trap?? Do you know how to bleed the cooling system?
As far as I know the temp gauge should sit just below half way and drop a tad when on fast roads.

I have no idea how to but I'd imagine my dad can, I'll give him a bell later. If anything debadged should give more airflow surely?
Yeah mine sits a fair bit higher aha Cheers

when im doing 90 down the motorway even on a really hot day my needle sits just above the bottom of the guage. only goes up when i stop or im in traffic, and even then only ever halfway, the grill wouldnt be doing it im pretty sure

Doubt it has anything to do with the grill

faulty thermostat or air in the cooling system is main things to check, may aswell drain the system then take off the thermostat and drop it in boiling water to see if it opens up fully

    Okay cheers

As the guys are saying, its not the grille, but could be a few things:

Not enough coolant in the system
    Air bubble in the system
    Faulty thermostat
    Leak in the system
Or could even be low on oil as that would cause temperature increase

I'm still not sure what's wrong with it, there was some air in there, but the problem is still occurring. I don't think it's the thermostat as the fan is coming on fine? Oil levels fine and coolant levels fine.
    Any other ideas?

this is more to do with your car being fucked over the grille lol

just check the main things, the rad working, the fan kicking in, the thermostat working, the system bled properly?

tbh you could pick up a brand new rad/fan/thermostat for less than £100 and then bleed it properly and i cant see why it would still stay hot after that

well if its a broken rad thats a nice easy fix would take 10min to swap, if its the waterpump, just think of it as a prime time to do a cambelt change lol
