bought a 60mm spax lowering kit, had it fitted by a garage and they said the front only dropped 30mm on the springs... why?

    thnx
  2. #2
full kit sir or just springs? were they defintely 60mm?
  3. #3
springs n shocks, and yeh they were... like ino they take time to settle a bit, but settle 30mm?
  4. #4
hhmmm thats a toughy matey...ive got a 60mm drop on spax and it was low straight away. haveu mesured the drop with a tape measure? or is the guy hu fitted them a bit of a plonker. thers no real way you can go wrong when fitting springs, they have to be in the right position to tighten the 3 bolts back up. its a toughy. maybe the place you bought them only gave u 30mm springs? hows the torsion looking though?
  5. #5
dont forget that the 8v lumps are lighter than the 16v lumps, hence the 16v's will lower slightly more

your spring will settle a bit in a few weeks, but i doubt they will settle another 30mm tbh. have you got the part number of the springs and ill compare to mine (mine are 40mm)
  6. #6
i havn't no coz i didnt know where it sat in the 1st place, all i hear about the garage is praise so i don't think they are plonkers haha. mates sax was done there and it looks sex.

i was thinking they may have sent me the wrong springs, too late now anyway isnt it? how would i even check?

they said they put the rear down 40mm, it looks a tad high for the front in my head though...

check the part numbers on the springs, or the box/invoice if you have them

    part numbers (for vt* models):

    40mm - S005006
    60mm - S005005

some people get the impression the S005006 lower 60mm because of the last digit in the part number, but this isnt true mate

    hope this helps

is this the part number? V7864 - SPAX05GASKr1007 <----- thats all thats on the box, and that corresponds with the invoice

^^^ i havent seen a number in that format before from spax. get a torch in your wheelarch and the number will be on one of the coils, you will only see the number from one side of the car (if they are both put in the same way) as they print the numbers at the same part of each spring,

unlucky mate, look on my prog thread, i have 40mm springs on, chances are if they look like mine then you will have 40mm springs

    40mm is best imo anyway
  13. #13
post #31 looks about the same, hmm, yours is a vts tho, maybe they measured wrong and im just being fussy haha =]
  14. #14
the vts should only be a small difference, no where near 30mm mate
  15. #15
no i mean i reckon it did drop more then 30mm, they just cocked up the measuring. like sometimes i look at it i'm like mmm thats yum, then i look another day n think it looks shit.

meh fuck it anyway, need a new job anyway, will just get some coilys or sommit when i get some more skrills =]

    lol i bet.

definately looks like 40mm to me mate, let it settle in a few weeks and you should be happy with it
  19. #19
i had it done 2 weeks ago might go bk n ask them to put the back down 10-20mm coz they said they would if i wasn't happy, looks a tad high in my book in comparison to the front.

cheers for the help anyway bud . put my mind at ease a bit haha
  20. #20
20mm more on the back would look better mate tbh, nice car btw, same colour as me
  21. #21
