Front has snapped off, tried everything. None of the garages will touch it.

Shall i just take a drill to it and buy a new hub...

2 problem threads in a row. FMS

    You got any better pictures?

http://www.dynomec.co.uk/indexEnglish.html looked at using something like this?
  4. #4
Basicly the top has snapped off leaving like a 5mm raised part... nothing to get a grip onto really...

Run an 10mm drill bit through it - you look to be off centre so might bugger the thread but is worth the risk.

Then go for a 11mm bit (will get it off but will 99% take the thread with it so new hub)

Is it a front or rear hub?

    drill it out

    front left.

Is annoying me so much now lol.

    /sarcasm.

Im trying everything but to drill it out since i dont want to be buying a new hub.

Even rammed flathead screw driver into the hole yesterday but wasnt moving at all and just slipped eventually.

    10mm drill bit and hope

you've drilled a hole now so the positioning of the hole will determine whether the hub threads survive or not.

you got a dremel? or any possibility of cutting a better 'pattern' into it with if you get me..like a better shape to get grip onto. Like you said above with the flat head, could you not like try and secure that to it in a better way? sealing/glueing it to the bolt or something maybe? then get mole grips on the flat head screw driver and try to twist it out. if it gets extreme youll end up losing the screwdriver, but thats better than the bolt, even to the extremes of a touch of weld or something?

Welding rod wont get in there apparantly. I can try ram a screw driver in more and hope for the best i guess lol.

Is the only options me thinks

Could try hitting a big torx bit in there ? Should grip better than a screw driver + get a breaker bar on it.

Tighten the other 3 bolts up to try and relieve the pressure before doing the above

    Will have a ganders...

Anything i can put in there to increase grip or releases grip like wd40 or summit?
  14. #14
Not really, could put liquid metal in the hole and then hit in a torx bit - let it dry and try?

Just hit in a torx bit that's bigger than the hole - if that doesn't work then go for a 10mm drill bit

Will a 10mm drill out the bolt in theory?

i had the same problem once ,i hammered a 16mm socket onto the head of the 17mm sized locking nut and it undid. As long as the socket is slightly smaller than the lock nut it should go on with some pursuasion (big hammer and socket extension!) It worked for me and also make sure the other 3 bolts are locked up tight to releave the tension on the other .Good luck!

On a side note. My fan has stopped working. Awseme.

maybe driving your car slowly with the other wheel nuts slightly loose will get the problem one to release just enough to get it to start to undo?? Could work possibly .Other than that i've no other suggestions .

It's an M12 bolt (12mm), with 1.25mm of thread - so the body of the bolt is 10.75mm (in theory)

So a 10mm would'nt drill it out - but as you are off centre I would try this first

Also, dont loosen the other 3 bolts and drive it around to try and loosen the locking bolt !
