hi ive got a v reg 1.0 saxo
today the keys were stuck in the ignition and wouldnt come out so i stalled the car to get it to turn off and eventually got the keys out after a few hours.
but now it wont start at all when i turn the key and a orange key light is showing on the dash?
also even when the keys are not in the ignition at all it seems to think its on like running off the battery and like radio on and that....?
i hope someone can help and sorry if it doesnt really make much sense tbh i dont know what im talking about? got my brother trying to fix it for me but doesnt have much knowledge in saxos
    thankss

    Hi,

Sounds like the ignition barrel needs to be replaced, but this is not as straight forward as it sounds.

The key has a little chip in it that disables the immobiliser. So if you get another ignition barrel from a breakers yard then the key that comes with it will not be recognised by your car's immobiliser and would need to be programmed by Citroen. You'll also have two keys - one for locks and the other for the ignition - not ideal.

You could go to Citroen and get a new barrel that matches your existing key. Citroen will need a few details that you can find in this guide: http://www.saxperience.com/forum/sho...d.php?t=228926

It sounds like the ignition switch...happened to my old vts. Got the AA out and the fella removed it and basically hotwired the car...but still needed the key in the ignition to start because of the immobiliser.

If it is the ignition switch then theres 3 options, 1. get it wired up and leave it like that (messy due to wires hanging out of steering column and awkward cause you have to fiddle bout with wires every time you start and turn off car), 2. get an autospark to install a push button start (shouldnt cost much and like option 1 you'll still need the key in the ignition to start the car) and 3. go to citroen and get a new switch/barrell and coded keys (the most expensive option...£300 at best but probably a lot more).
