Important! : Car wont start.

    Hey,

I drove 300 miles on thursday to get to the services 100 miles away from where I was meant to be and the car wouldnt start for about 40 mins... I managed to get it started and back to my mates flat in Essex... went to start it the next morning and NOTHING... it sounded like it just wasn't firing.

I had a wedding that day... went back on Saturday to his flat started it... once it started it cut out straight away and then I re-started it and everything was fine... apart from every time I tried to start it, it would cut out... I went to petrol station filed up to a full tank and perfect car run like a dream...

Drove back the 300 miles yesterday and now the car wont start again... This isn't good I need to get it fixed! I have my head under the bonnet as we speak... anyone know what it might be?

    Thanks

I'd agree with this, a friend of mine had a 206 hdi kept cutting out, no engine management lights or anything.. would just drive and the car would just cut out randomly.. was the crank sensor

Hey guys, it doesn't cut out randomly... just when I start the car and then will start fine after that...

I have found out whats the problem now anyway.

Fuel Pump is lacking pressure... petrol is dribling out. Going to pop a new one on soon, I didn't think it would be this as I had a second hand one on a while ago. Turns out it is though. Thanks for your help

Ahh mine was doing that, could possibly be because of this but my mechanic said it might be the exhaust because of how badly it was blowing lol, been fine since.

When i was cranking the ignition the car fired as normal very quickly then suddenly spluttered horribly, revs dropped to around 200-300 rpm the dropped off completely and car died, done it twice to me all together now... both times its been twice before the car has returned to a normal idle then ran spotless.

Does this sound anything like yours?

Just thougt i'd add - when i have a full tank of petrol the car in fine... Short term fix but need to solve the issue once and for all.

    Hey Chris,

Seen something like this before. Water gets into the tank, fuel runs low and water gets sucked into the fuel pipes and saturates/blocks the fuel filter. A clogged filter will also restrict fuel flow. You may want to consider this as it's cheaper to change and eliminate this than the fuel pump.

mate - i changed the filter already - i tested the old filter and it was running fine
