Important! : Leaking Oil from new VTS engine

  1. #1
Just completed my VTS conversion and I have Oil Leak was told by my mechanic he thought I needed a new rocker gasket cover, but the VTS don't have a rocker gasket cover gasket cover.

So I know my mechanic can use sealant to handle the oil leak. but there is another leak. he says near the camshafts ladders.

anyone got an idea what it could be?

    anyone please

Leaking below the cams?! You sure you dont just need a rocker gasket? Theyre an easy fix if so... If its leaking oil below the level of the cams, unlucky!

yea i had the same problem mate just take them off and re gasket under them aswell. there located below the rocker cover and sit ontop of the cam like a housing. done this 3 times on my vts only gasket thats good enough for it is loctite 5699 . mind you you got to take cam belt off and pulleys quite a bit of work but needs be done

So what parts do I need to buy then to stop all the leaks?

    ?????????????

you just need to reseal the camshaft ladders.

tbh if he is a mechanic he should be able to diagnose this.

It's a cambelt off job to do though - I'd be tempted to replace the cambelt if it's off

Same situation as the rockers bud. Loctite blue or grey are good, as long as its coming from the front, right or rear of the ladders they need resealing. If its from behind the cambelt pulley then its new camshaft seal time. Very common problem on these due to the camladder and camcover design being wank

ok kool no parts to pay for just seal?

just sealant buy loctite 5699 sell it in halfords 5.49 for a 80ml tube

depends if you do cambelt at same time ?

Might want to do camshaft oil seal too ?

PErsonally i would reseal the rockers properly first and see if the leak comes back as more often than not in my experience most camladder leaks are down to rockers leaking and seeping down giving the impression of it being the ladders

I'm just going off a 'mechanics' diagnosis.

either rocker cover gasket or cam ladder gasket
