Limp mode

Okay where do I start, my sister has a S reg Citroen Saxo VTR only 62000 one owner since new, it has been on my drive for about a year because it is in limp mode with no sign of finding the problem, ECU was plugged in gave a few warnings all parts replaced but probelm still exists, has been plugged in 3 times at garages all say ECU fault, has been sent to a specialist in London TWICE! both state nothing wrong with ECU and doesnt need replacing? Does anyone have any suggestions as quite simply the car is mint inside and out apart from this very very annoying problem.

Hi, can you tell us more about the original problem symptoms, the fault codes and what was changed? What lamps are lit on the dash?

Does the car start and idle ok?

Could be the 'limp' is a sign of a misfire? If so, you'd need to narrow it down to be fuel supply (fuel filter, clogged injector) or ignition related (plugs, coil pack/coil+leads, TDC sensor etc).

car starts and runs fine until you accelerate over 3000 revs then it wont let you rev any higher. Dont know the original fault codes but the lamda sensor, fuel sensor, every bloody sensor has been replaced, no lights on dash.

    Hmmm,

I'd start narrowing the list to TDC / engine speed sensor, coil+leads/coilpack (not sure if yours has a coil pack).

Try searching the forum as I have seen similar posts but can't find one with a definitive fix.

    Hi,

Could also be fuel supply related - fuel filter, fuel pump, water in tank.
