#2Yeah that happened with my vtr also. I haven't had any problems yet. What I'm thinking to do is the next time I'm changin oil I'll take off the sump then find the little bit.

#3Should be ok... just make sure it comes out at the next service
the oil pump has a strainer, and the crank is far enough above the oil level line for the end of the dipstick to not come into contact.
I've got to ask though... how the smeg do you break the end of the dipstick? -
#4No idea about mine. Was like that when i bought it. Checked the oil one day and then thought what the hell that cant be right. Checked my mates saxo and seen that the bottom half was snapped off.

#7the third thread will be called
The dip sticks end has broke, do i need to cry or not? -
#8When you say the end of the dipstick do you mean the plastic bit or the plastic bit and some of the metal?
It shouldn't cause too much hassle but to be sure I'd get it in for an oil and filter change. If it does cause a blockage and certain parts of your engine are starved of oil you'll be looking at more than a new dipstick!
Your local garage should be able to do it for £20-£30 and if you let them know about your dipstick they should be able to get it out for you when they're draining the sump.
