End of dipstick snapped off-is it a problem straight away??

   The end of my dipsticks broken off & need to know if it'll cos any damage right away. its one of the nylon tip ends.ive been told that it shouldnt,as there's a filter to stop it in the sump.any comments/ideas???

   No it aint a problem yet, you need a new dipstick obviously.
   But you really need to drop the sump, and get it out

   alex-is there a filter that'll stop it going anywhere in the sump? what size o spanner/socket for the sump mate

   No filters or anything like that unfortunately, not sure on the sizes of nuts for the sump, just treat it as a basic oil change, but you will need to drain the oil, drop the sump, fish it out, remove old sealant, apply new sealant, resecure sump, change oil filter, refill engine with oil

    I have two broken ends in my oil sump. Question has been answered, it won't affect anything but it's better to take it out anyway. Just when looking for a new dipstick get a full metal one. The nylon tips are shit.

    Jesus is it your time of the month? Sainsburys are doing buy one get one free on tampax at the moment I suggest taking advantage of the offer for some extra security, it must be heavy this month..
    
    Mine snapped off years a go and is still there, just replaced the dipstick - no problems yet.

    Standard oil change might make it flow out? Sounds like an easy fix tbh.
    
    New dipstick from shitroen should be cheapish.

    the dipstick goes into the sump so it will be in the sump
    
    just drain the oil when its been running and hope it comes out if not then its a sump off job but it wont do any damage its only plastic, id prefer it be out though
