Do halfords £30 ripspeed air filters damage the engine and lower the speed of the car? I have a furio 1.4 and can't decide whether to keep it on or put the original back on? Thanks

#2if you get one your headgasket will fail, your exhaust will fall off, your bottom end will go, your steering wheel will fall off, your wheels will fall off, your seats will fall throigh the floor and you will spontaniously combust

#3Standard airbox with an uprated filter would be better mate.
No it wont damage your engine, unless its ripped and a stone gets in or something. -
#4When you say uprated filter, where do I get these from? Would these improve performance? Thanks

#5Any motorshop really, have a look on kam-racing.co.uk
I used to have a cheap raceland induction kit on my saxo, that was pretty good bang for buck.
With any induction kit / air filter you're not going to get much power.. you'd be lucky to get a couple bhp.
Its all about getting cold air directly, and as quickly as possible, into the air intake.
Have a search about induction kits, theres loads of threads with good recommendations in mate.

#6kc saxo your seriously funny you have made my day. as for air filter go for cold feed shortest route least bends and as bigger diamater as possible pipework. also keep away from maifold heat etc
-
#7dont do it! i had one on my 1.1 and it sounded shit, drank fuel and fell off in the end...

#8Yh think i'm gonna put the original air filter back on for now. Yh that raceland one looks really nice, might get one at some point. Thanks.

#9B&Q Aluminium flexi duct( 3m for less than 6 quid 100mm diameter), attached to standard air box with green panel filter inside... Job done.
Althought i took the resonator box off my car and im setting up two air feeds. with the flexi Hose. -

#14induction kits are crap.well overhyped.probably get about 2bhp if your lucky, and yeah-you'll go through more juice. VTR's werent meant to have all that shit or they'd probably have installed them when they built them.heard a lot of guys going apeshit about their revs goin haywire, because of not getting enough air in when idling and stopping at lights etc.NOT worth the hassle in my opinion

#15ive got green filter standard air box n intake.. with aluminium wrapped round intake to further heat protect it.. and removed resonator and blocked up hole... str8 direct feed.
