Restoring Scratched Plastic

  1. #1
    Hi guys,

Just a quick bit of advice, didn't know whether to put this here or in the detailing section (please move if incorrect) but the plastic section of my front bumper is pretty badly scratched, the person who had the car before me obviously liked to run over kerbs when parking. Does anyone have any recommendations on a quick way to get rid of the scratches? If I sanded them down would I have to repaint or would some bumper gel bring it back up to black?

    Cheers in advance!

Is this speaking from experience? I have a hard time imagining T cut working on non coloured plastic trims.

best bet is wet and dry sand the plastic down
then either get a colour match made and touch up the area with that

Cheers for the good replys guys. Some are quite deep, I'll grab a couple of pics when I get home from work.

I'm wondering if after sanding I'll need to paint or would some back to black bring it back enough? I might just give it a bash anyway. Is it easy enough to get a good paint match for the black plastics?
