What is it with the VTR?

  1. #1
I have just realised. Why do some VTR have 120 on the clocks and somme go up to 140. Also from what ive seen on youtube, the ones with 120 appear slower?

    anyone? lol

are they 100% a vtr because i think the 1.4 furio have clocks that go up to 120mph.

i had a 2002 vtr and that went up to 140mph.
my friend has a 1999 mk1 vtr and that goes upto 140mph
and i now have a 1998 1.4 106 quiksilver and that goes upto 140mph on the clocks (not that it would get anywhere near that)

apparently so. was a video o here earlier posted by db saxo sayin rate my vtr acceleration and it went to 120. Also on youtube some vtrs are showing 120 on clocks. Like you say, every vtr ive been in has 140 on the clock :s

my mrs vtr goes up to 120mph and its early mk2. thought it was odd too but everything checks out that its vtr
  6. #6
140 on my vtr too. So your saying the ones with 120 on the clock are badged up furios? lol
  7. #7
mines an early mk2 VTR and only goes up to 120...
even though it goes past that at the top end
  8. #8
Hmmmmm i'm gonna have to go look at mine at Lunch time.
  9. #9
How many of your VTRs will actually do 140 standard though ? ... lol about 120 top end isnt it ?... So maybe the French thought there was no point in a 140 clock until a bit later on.
  10. #10
    Mine says 140
  11. #11
    some went upto 130
  12. #12
which ones ? Mines got 140 on the clock ( just for the record )
  13. #13
Think the reason is because Citroen ran out of 140mph clocks and so they used 120mph clocks from furios as it saved them money and the layouts of the VTRs and Furios were the same compared to the VTS.

    ps mines got 120

mines a 2001 y reg n it got 140... If a guy in the previous post had a 120 clock and it was an early VTR model mk2... Then i dont know whatthey were doing lol.
  15. #15
Ive seen quite a few furios with 140...... dont ask why lol
  16. #16
    VTR's do have 120 clocks.
  17. #17
I still think its just citroen mixing and matching stuff from the VTR/Furio bin
  18. #18
think its w and x reg vtrs with 120, correct me if im wrong
  19. #19
I've never really top ended my car, but my mate has in his mk2 02 VTR and he got 128mph.

But i guess it's not actually 128mph due to the shitty needles on the car lol.

90bhp or 98bhp maybe??? faster ones with the 140mph clocks are the later 98bhp or have been tuned??

I doubt loads of owners would have bothered with swapping clocks. Even a 90bhp vtr is much slower and you could get just over 120 top end so the clocks would seem abit useless lol.(off to check mine now!)
Edit: I have 130 on my mk1, good old citroen ramming on whatever component is nearest!

...its a shame they didnt put a VTS engine in my VTR by mistake- that would of been great.
  23. #23
when citroen bought out the mk2 saxos they changed dials to white ones in vt's.they quote the vtr top speed as 116 mph and so 120 on the clock was ok.however they changed regulations and speedo has to go up to 10+ mph over manufacturers quoted top speed.hence why they upped it to the 140 clocks from mk2 vts's

    Yup

they only started putting 120 clocks in when they changed them to white dials.the blue dials in mk1s were shared by vtr and vts i believe thats why there 130mph. they could only do it 120 clocks for about a year until regulation changed.so W and X reg cars are most likely to have 120 clocks
  28. #28
and vtrs with 140 clocks are 98bhp as first of the mk2s were still 90bhp like mine.thats why vtrs with 120 clocks seem slower because they are slightly as they are -8bhp

mine is a Y reg 98bhp version but with 120 clocks - all original. Think it might be only the 2002 and newer has 140 clocks.
  30. #30
think it all depends when that regulation came in but that is why anyway lol

nah mines a y reg 2001 and the clock goes upto 140. Maybe its just shitroen trowing on any clock thats nearest.
  33. #33
Furios have VTR clocks so will be the same. 140 mph! Closest i been was 111mph in the mighty 1.4 furio lol
  34. #34
My Furio clocks go to 120 and i got 119.
I think there's a reason why they shouldn't go higher..
  35. #35
my 1.1 East Coast has 260mph on the clocks

    Belting mush!

Mine says 140mph, 51 plate VTR. Only had about 105mph out of it, i daren't push it harder due to the fact it feels like the engine will explode if i do!

    126mph is less than 130mph

My clocks go to 140... It's a 2001 98bhp model. I believe the earlier lower power engine's only had 120 on the clocks
  40. #40
my 2001 vtr has 140mph on the clocks, as said before i assume the 120mph are either phase ones or westcoast/furio
  41. #41
    Mine has 140 and is a Y reg 2001.

Maybe it was during the crossover from mk1 to 2
