over revving

  1. #1
    hiya,

can someone please help, ive just bought a 99 saxo and its over revving all the time even when its just standing idle and it sometimes pulls when im driving it. i've had a little look in the engine and i can see a green plug thats not connected to anything, would that be it? i use this car for work so its in use all the time and as you can imagine its really annoying and embarrassing when im stuck in traffic and the car is revving on its own

it is yeah, i'll post a pic in a bit, ive just noticed there are 3 plugs that arent attached to anything on the driver side of the engine, a green 1 a black 1 with yellow inside and a brown one.think i'm going to have to get down the garage and flutter my eyelashes a bit coz i havent a clue with cars

green is a coolant sensor, brown is for ac i think so not needed. cant remember the black one

    do have induction kit on?

is the green near a blue one? they both temp sensors

its probably just your throttle cable, the pin might need to be taken off and let the throttle cable slightly retract then put the pin back into place ill try n find a picture to illustrate this!

maybe so because there needs to be slack in cable for stepper motor to work properly..

but the green coolant connector can cause over rev probs too...

I know there is an idle revs control connector at the top that if u unplug will make the engine rev more. Could be that.
