Can i run without a thermostat for a bit?

   Hi all, Car overheated yesterday and pissed out it's coolant all over the multi storey car park at work
   Anyway the water tank was completely empty when we got back to it so filled it up with water just and let it run. It soon got hot but the pipe coming from the thermostat didn't get warm.
   
   Until i get a new one tomorrow will i be ok running without the stat for tonight? As far as i know it's only used for heating the car up quicker during the colder days.
   
   Any help would be great!

   You should be okay for a journey or two but I wouldn't drive it far/leave no thermostat in there for a long time

   i'll be getting a new one tomorrow, just checking it'll be ok tonight as i'm the taxi for the mrs tonight!

   ive been driving without a termostat for ages lol just aint got round to fitting a new one lol all i find it just takes longer to warm up

   ull b fine just ur engine wnt gt up 2 temp therfore wnt be running as well as it shud
