gearbox!

    my gearbox has been grinding for a while sounded like a thrust bearing so i changed the clutch and bearing filled gearbox up with the correct oil still no better recently started whining what causes it to whine?? theres no leaks on the floor where i park my car. can someone help???

    What oil are you using for the gearbox?

    your gearbox is on its way out im afraid the same happend to me .. mine lasted about a month after it started whining and then the gears just start to go

    probably the differential that is whining. Will soon blow up on you like mine did lol

    Yeah Defo the gearbox, grinding then a whining sound.
    Same happened with me!

    If it whines its the diff

    if it crunches its a cog

    if it grinds it inputshaft bearing

    all common faults of a well shagged french gerbox

    As mentioned above re the inputshaft bearing? Would this make a noise when the clutch is engaged and also when slowly driving, ie towards lights or at around 30?

    only reason i ask is that i'm getting a grinding noise sometimes when doing those?
