Important! : Still Overheating after bleeding, Need help

We have replaced the radiator on our Citroen Saxo VTR and have bled the system, tried to purge with hose, re-bled, pumped hoses and everything else we can think of.
However we still can not stop the car overheating, there is a gurgling noise from the heater matrix which indicates air still in system . Please help were out of ideas !!!!!!!!

Hi, have you changed the thermostat?

You may need to use a header tank (2L empty bottle of cola). I'll see if I can find a picture.

Here is a guide to bleeding the system: http://www.saxperience.com/forum/showthread.php?t=98877

Did it overheat before you changed the radiator?

    How does the car run?

We have gone through 3 thermostats and fitted brand new radiator and due to the old radiator being dodgy when we bought it we can not be sure.
The car has since we bought it run freely but also as moments where the revs drop and its lumpy

Also we have done exactly what that link has told us. It seems we have an airlock that we cant get rid of.

Could it be a dash temperature sensor fault?

Going through 3 thermostats doesn't sound right? Are they Citroen thermostats or a different make?

Does your fan cut in when it gets hot?

No gunk on your oil cap?

Did you use a header tank/bottle filled so the coolant level is higher than any bleed point?
  9. #9
firstly, does the fan kick on and off?

did you bleed all 3 bleed points? as thats the only way any air will be trapped if not doing all of them in the order...

No the gauge is fine, we can hear water in the heater which means that there is air in there.
No oil anywhere. Headgasket was replaced and they are citroen thermostats 2 were second-hand.
fan kicks in as it should
and we have bled from the three points

Turn the heater onto full and bleed again as normal, you'll notice it takes alot longer to heat up, the air lock you can hear is in the heater matrix. If that fails to work start looking at head gasket

change ur thermo, and semor if nothing works and you changed ur radiator its your head casket, mine went 2 months back and sounds like the same prob, you can always look at ur water pump, it might not be feeding enough water around fella
