saxo 1.1 cam

  1. #1
Hi Does anyone know if a 1.6 vtr cam or a 1.4 cam will fit into my 1.1 and increase the performance as I would like to make my 1.1 faster but preferably keep it a 1.1 please suggest any further modifications that would make it quicker. so far I have tinted the back lights, repeaters and also fitted a bee sting aerial I am also getting some c2 gt wheels so wont look that bad when alloys are on (cause it has wheel trims on at the moment). I would just like the performance to be better not to fussed about the top speed as long as the acceleration was quicker

Pretty sure those mods wont increase performance

You will never get a 1.1 to be a performance car. Regular services, induction kit and tlc will ensure you keep the performance you've got at the moment!

Twin turbo with front mount intercooler, 100bhp shot of nos on standard internals....will go with a bang

it has been kept in good nick and regularly serviced im getting an induction kit and a exhaust back box but I have been told these just make it sound good (also this is what I wanted lol) I have been told a 4-2-1 manifold would make a difference but I cannot find these anywhere.

could someone give me a estimate of how much it would be to change the engine with new engine and labour to fit it and set it up.

I like where your coming from if a friend asked me what to do to make there car quicker id just tell them to treat it good do the brakes and suspension and its quick enough. But its harder when its your car I just want abit more aceleration.

All we are saying is save what money you have it is not worth spending a lot on a 1.1. if you are dead set on the best possible performance then replace the panel filter, this is supposed to be the best for performance not an open cone. and get a straight through exhaust and if you really want to spend more a 4-2-1 manifold. dont bother with proper engine mods as you will be wasting your time and money. that is basically all you should do
  17. #17
there is no point spending money a 1.1, it will make no difference put a bigger engine mate and go from there instead of wasting your money
  18. #18
Save your money and get a faster car doesnt matter what mods you do its still going to be slow

If you want the best performance from your 1.1, save weight! Don't fill the boot with ice. They're terrible for carrying anything in.

But you're pissing in the wind a bit really.
  21. #21
btw just to answer your question.... you could get your cam reprofiled. ive done mine has a lumpy ideal but does run quicker! needs a remap now.

tbh it is better to just accept that a 1.1 wont be fast just get it sounding and looking nice then when the time comes get a faster car. although a 1.1 saxo is slow in comparison to vtr/s it is fast when compared to similar engined cars because the gear ratios are quite short. There are alot of nice flat arch saxos on the photos section so check them out.

I don't think it's really worth doing any changes to the engine on a 1.1. Or putting on the box exhaust and stuff like that. I would save the cash or the parts for a better engine size. Now if it was a VTS or R, then yeah, stick all the stuff you want on it, cause you want as much performance as you can out of that engine. (That's if you're being a naughty boy/girl and racing from A to B). If you just want it to sound good, I got a lovely way of saving money for ya, drill holes in the exhaust, lol. Though, prob wouldn't pass MOT after that.

most exhausts that fit 1.1 will fit the VTR/S so if it is the OP's intention to get a vtr/s then just swap it over when they upgrade. things like cams and induction kits wont so aint worth spending on. same with most other styling mods they can be swapped over so isnt really a waste. just dont bother with anything in the engine or induction.

agreed, your better off enjoying it for what it is then upgrading when you can afford the insurance... however weight is a killer with any car, if you really want to stripping the interior would probs give you minimal gains...

only way to make a 1.1 fast is by boosting it.

    end thread.
