Coolant temprature sensor is sending a faulty reading to the ecu so its pumping in too much fuel, to compensate for this the ICV is opening causing the idle to become far too high which is then causing the throttle position sensor and MAP sensor to conflict.

Just one of the hundreds of possibilties of whats wrong.

    have fun.

would the coolant temp sensor relli have tht much affect on things?.... i like the sound of it tho as mine has a green plug with 3 wires a blue 1 with 2 wires and the other blue 1 has 1 wire but no where to be plugged into so its not pluged in ill av a fiddle round with them sensors, it dosent help tht the engine came out a rallye and i sourced parts everywhere i could.... okay m8 nice 1 on the oil im probs gunna whack sum engine flush it run it warm n drain it out n get a decent 5w-30 in there..

would a dogey coil pack do this as well ?? also ive blocked off the fuel return,,, as its cammed i didnt think the lil extra fuel would hurt too much
  11. #11
blocked off return will do it no good at all
  12. #12
sounds kinda stupid but why?.... sorry im not being ignorent im just curios, lodsa ppl on ere said tht theve dun it and it runs fine with no probs etcetc... as itll only fuel 3.5 bar itll never over over fuel its self will it? ......... this is my firsr eva major engine conversion where ive made two completly opposites eg the single plug into the 3 plug match up etcetc im just dyin to get it running
  13. #13
im not going into detail im far too hungover but if the fuel return wasnt needed it wouldnt be there.

You need to get everything sorted before you start problem solving. Sort out the return pipe and get the coolant temp sensor wired up then come back. You said you have plug everything in but you hadn't plugged that in, are you a 100% sure that you've got the rest of them in? I've just put a new engine in my vts as the cam shaft pulley snapped, the new engine is a single plug version that came with the loom and ecu but some of the sensors and plugs were still different to mine even though my car is one plug. Get a picture up of the coolant sensor and the plug so someone can tell you which version sensor you need to get.
