16v or 8v

looking for some help. im going to be racing at knockhill and im undecided what to go for

a vts/gti 1.6 16v j4 engine with road cams, verniers, 4 brancher, induction kit, light flywheel and race clutch, ported polished head and a remap.

    or

a 106 rallye 1.6 8v engine with race cams, 4 brancher, light flywheel and race clutch, ported polished head, R6 bike carbs (keeping injection) and a remap.

i dont think i will be geting much faster than 110-120 so what ever gets there quickest will be the one im going for. and i dont want to be fixing it every day so the more reliable would be nice.

    cheers

16v makes most sense. its a faster better engine no matter what anyone says

iv heard they can be very expesive to mod and fix when things go wrong thats the only thing that puts me off a 16v but im looking for opinions to help me decide.

8v because it has more torque.

just getting it in there before someone else says it

16v, its a no brainer really

    What box you using?

to 110 I don't think there'll be much in them two.

standard box on the rallye any maybe a 106 1.5D gearbox on the 16v but might keep it standard aswell

I think I'd probably go with the rallye then.

Not sure what the diesel box is like but the rallye box will probably be best for what you're after.

Are you one of those people who say, "bhp sells cars, torque wins races"?
