Weird Problem Diff?

Well my mates got this werid problem.. when he drives down the road its fine but when he changes gear the steering wheel shakes.. its a sort off jerking movement aswel..

We jacked the car up today and began to drive the car on axel stands, and the passanger side wheel was jerking and the gearbox was making a pretty dirty noise, so i think it maybe diff

Any ideas what this could be?

    Hi Logan,

Sounds like its either the gearbox or the driveshaft, can't be wheels or tracking if it was off the ground.

Cheers dont think it is the drive shaft as it only does it with the clutch in and rarely when clutch out, think we have found out that the dif is gone

    Hi Logan,

If you feel up to it, there is a step by step guido on refurbishing a gearbox from top to bottom in the Premium Members articles area.

Well i think we going to have a bash as its not like we can break the broken lol..

also gunna be working on my Be3 box to fit a lsd which im not looking forward to, as i want to remove the box and clean it up,

got the vts box off today wasnt much off a problem as ive done a few befor, but when it come to mine its sort off hanging off.. EVERYTHING has been removed thats in the way or nearby so aid space, but its like it stuck on the shaft.. anything different about be boxes that doesnt let them come right off?

Hi did you remove the mount bracket that fits on the gearbox and attaches under the battery tray. That gave the room needed for an MA box. Not familiar with BE box but I'd guess it' s similar.

As for the refurb - that's the spirit. Do consider the gearbox guide it includes tools, parts and how to disassemble, replace parts and rebuild the box.
You can skip the bearing replacement although you'll want to check the planet
Gears as these may be the problem.

Cheers man, got my be box off, and was told it had a lsd but with the wheel spin i kept getting i didnt belive it and surprisly it hasnt , but looking at my mates diff, there isnt any visual wear on any off the diff gears? and all the gears on top casing seem to look fine..

but what else could it be?

The sypmtons are that after about 30 seconds off driving when you put your foot down to change gear the steering wheel jerks to the left, we jacked the car up and ran the car on stands and 1 wheel was going around fine but the other was jerking and when we left it to tick over the wheel was actaly jerking and going backwards.. thats what made me think it was a dodgy diff so ive been out and brought a new quaife lsd for 300 quid..

    Hi Logan,

I'd guess that the problem is with the planet wheels if it relates to the differential.
