Revving itself

    for some reason my saxo has started revving itself when im sitting at a junction it will sound like i keep taking my foot on and off the accelerator and it will basically drive its self most of the time

    its a 1.1i btw

    im booking it in tomorrow to be looked at but has anyone got any idea what it might be?

    accelerator cable sticking maybe, happend to me once, stoped at a junction and it started to rev at 3k, every one was looking at me like wtf

    check the idle control valve mate, might need cleaning. its a common fault on saxos

    i had a quick look at both of them earlier but it was dark so couldn't really see will have another look tomorrow, cheers lads

    its bloody embarrassed had some chav in a corsa following me when it was happening and he assumed i wanted to race lol

    and good shout tom, didnt know it was a comon fault tho,
    tom the carbon vinyl is gona have to go on hold for a while, what colour should i do my bonnet and spoiler in?

    hi just read and thought id reply, mine was doing exactually them same, was revving to 2k then dropping to 500 then holding just under 2k, had a closer look and it was my idle control valve. so check that and clean it up mate

    hey,i had the same problem with my westie,cleaned icv and was fine for bout 30 miles and then started again so replaced it and problem solved!yay!!

    ICV or the temperature sensor is on its way out.
    Could just give the throttle body and ICV a good cleaning to see if that sorts it.

    just cleaned the ICV and took it for a drive and it only happened once for about 30 seconds when i first set out then after that it was fine so ill see how it goes over the next few days
