#2im guessing no, clios are cheap enough to buy and possibly handle better, i say possible cause i dont know for a fact
-
#4since when do clios handle better than saxos? lol
-
#5Would be a massive job changing all the mounting points alot of fabrication and cutting and I'm guessing custom made bits not worth even thinking about would be cheaper and easier and more powerful to turbo/supercharge the vts engine
-
#7If you want a 172 engine in a light shell why don't you put one in a Mk1 Clio, my mate had one and it was an animal:
-
#8erm i done it i put a clio 197 engine in my saxo 1.1 it bolted strait in no modds needed and it ran on the saxo ecu and wiring loom plug and play basicly go out and buy your self a 197 engine for about 3 grand and it will be worth every penny you spent (btw your a prick for thinking of spending time asking questions about shit stop using the internet your a prick go get in your vts go down the road find a 106 gti race it get raped and roll it into a primary school.1 user thanked this post:

what the fa.. think some needs to chill are he only asked a question jeez,
if you were just after a bigger engine wouldn't the pug 206 gti engine be the easier option? -
#12You can probably turbo a VTS for the same price
And if you really want a 172 get a PH1, they go for under 2K -
#13LOL Thanks for thatQuote:erm i done it i put a clio 197 engine in my saxo 1.1 it bolted strait in no modds needed and it ran on the saxo ecu and wiring loom plug and play basicly go out and buy your self a 197 engine for about 3 grand and it will be worth every penny you spent (btw your a prick for thinking of spending time asking questions about shit stop using the internet your a prick go get in your vts go down the road find a 106 gti race it get raped and roll it into a primary school.
It certainly is mate, Mieran's mate killed it though

#16John took me out the first night he got it, I remember it being a cold November night (I think), he brought it to a meet it had no heaters etc, I was freezing cold but I've never been in anything FWD as fast as that car before, used to spin in practically every gear in the wet!
-
#20I know you did Marc, by killing I meant the spirit of the old car lol, I've been told it's nothing like it used to be since it was a shame.Quote:it was me that pulled the engine out lol, and fitted it into another mk1
That picture is off my mates Facebook, That's the engine bay off what the car it was originally in L9 PAJ
Only way to go tbh. -
#21i took the engine out of paj mate, and the engine bay is blue on that car lol, i had paj sitting at my place for about 2 month after it had its heart ripped out.
-
#22PAJ was a legend tbf.
My new Nova feels like the Vauxhall version of PAJ, even has orange cage, similar blue colour, and just as hardcore
-
#23you got it yet?
-
#24Yeah, you will like it.
Everything is pretty much brand new. -
#25get it over unit some time
-
#27once its in and the shutters are down thats it!!!!

-
#32pics or it didnt happen
-
#33172 engine is NOT the same family engine as a saxo engine mate. not saying it cant be done as it definetly could. would like to see the car though. its a tight fit in a mk1 clio so would be tight in a saxo.
-

As said they are nothing like the TU, though will be good to see some pictures, the Exhaust manifold sticks out the back a fair few inches so will be good to see how he got around that. The gearbox is also a bit bulky, and the driveshafts are bigger compared to the VTR's, do you know what he did with the shafts? Is he using 172 hubs or has is cobbled together some sort of custom shafts to fit the VTR hubs?
Also the 172 has a lower box mount to bolt it to the subframe, this acts a stabliser, has he retained this?
They do have VVT, but its more for emissions and low speed driveability, it kicks in at circa 1800 rpm out back out at circa 6500 rpm, the fabled '5k kick' is simply the engine running at its best volumetic efficiency
I dont have a 5k kick any more, the itb's spread the power out lovely -
#38you could retain the rear box mount easily, just use the clio and saxo rear box mounts and to make 1 that will fit the clio box and saxo chassis mount, imo, it prob wouldnt be too hard to get the thing in, as i think the saxo might just be the right size to got the mounts onto the saxo chassis and engine bay, but it would be making the shafts etc that would be a fuck on.
would like to see it, just from the posts above theres too much shit in there for it to be real. -
#39Plus its not even a TU its a FR engineQuote:As said they are nothing like the TU, though will be good to see some pictures, the Exhaust manifold sticks out the back a fair few inches so will be good to see how he got around that. #40There isnt a rear box mount mate, im taking about the front lower mount, from memory it would be at the wrong angle to bolt onto anything, meaning the box weight would be on the top box mount.Quote:you could retain the rear box mount easily, just use the clio and saxo rear box mounts and to make 1 that will fit the clio box and saxo chassis mount, imo, it prob wouldnt be too hard to get the thing in, as i think the saxo might just be the right size to got the mounts onto the saxo chassis and engine bay, but it would be making the shafts etc that would be a fuck on.

#41197 powered Clio Williams would be the sex
-
#42aww yeah, forgot it was on the front. could fab a bracket onto the lower crossmember below the rad on the saxo.
-
#43This is out 172 powered mk1, with fibre glass doors and tailgate, carbon roof, bonnet

But that engine has now been removed and this big build engine is now going in
-
#44that isnt a saxo though........
