fan overide

  1. #1
thinking about fitting a fan overide, done some searches and found a guide, but was unsure about it.

there were 2 options, wire it in with the engine running, and without.

without the engine running it said to wire switch to the +postive on battery and to the fan relay.

imo wouldnt it be easier to cut the relay and wire the switch inbetween the the cut wire. therfore allowing it to be turned on with or without the engine on?

You'll have to wire it on a switch if going from posi cus it will still run with the car locked up unless you run it from an ignition wire

I have done it on single fan. Piece of piss. I would recommend a twin fan setup though, would be better. Although i have done mine so it is still automatic but i can override it whenever nad also without the engine on etc. Not even the key in

Erm. Yeah why not. You Need to run a cable from an earth in the cabin to a switch. Mount this where you need it. The run a cable from the switch to the front of the car. Here you will find a plug that goes into the top right of the radiator. It is blue. This is the fan switch. Coming out of this plug there should be 3 cables. The yellow one is earth. It is this one that you need to splice the other cable into. So just remove a bit of the insulation around it, twist the wire around and solder it. Then tape it up to insulate it. Done.
This just sends earth to the relay and completes the circuit, just what the switch does.
