Strange problem!

Basically just noticed this today as it was pointed out to me that my back left brake light doesnt work. so got home after college and decided to have a look for the problem. found out a few strange things,
    • when my day lights/main beam lights are on only one bulb lights up but when these arent on this one bulb acts as my brake light (only comes on one side which is the bulb below the indicator)
    • when i press my brake and day lights/main beam are off my needles light up
    • both my back indicators work (which is good)

ive checked the fuses and everything seems to be ok, could this be a wiring problem? some water did leak though the ariel a few days back and blew the interior light, ive sealed this up and replaced it and it seems fine. could that have anything to do with it? Thanks for any help. Redford.

yeh thats what i was thinking, checked the button behind the brake pedel and that seems fine. just had another little play around and now both sides seem to be doing the same thing and when i disconnect both back lights the needles dont light up when i brake and the boot brake is working. but still when there connected the brakes work but as soon as i turn on sidelights then the same light used as the brake light is constantly on... also my nearside light has had a brand new circuit in it which holds the bulbs, the other one looks past its days. where would i check for the earth? cheers!

Hi, this is usually due to a brake light not being installed properly. The brake bulb has two offset lugs and needs to be installed the right way around.

Otherwise, it bridges the wiring making the dash light up when you brake.

    Great.

Washer pump - the secret place that the pipes go can be found here http://www.saxperience.com/forum/sho...d.php?t=180274

Leak - seems close to where the pump is located, i'd guess that all will be reveleed when you get to it.
