Whats the difference - saxsport exhaust?

is there much of a sound difference from the decat system compared to the sport cat system? as i would rather the sportcat system cause its less hasle when it comes to mot. but only ever heard the decat system

the cat dosen't make hardly any difference to the noise, if you bought a decat system, it'll only take 10min to swap the exhausts over at the end of the day the exhaust is only held on to the manifold with 2x10mm nut/bolts and then slide it off the rubbers, a sports cat is very expensive and is worse than a de-cat in terms of power

fair point. would about mpg? i hear loads off people complaining of really bad mpg cause of a decat ?

mines pretty shocking on mpg to be fair but that could be down to a lot of things, the fact i dont have a fuel return pipe after doing the 16v conversion and my lambda sensor isn't plugged it etc lol

A proper sports cat gives very similar gains to a decat. All 3 were compared. A decat, sport cat and road cat. Both sports and decat were both miles better than a road cat and gaves very very similar results.

i stand to be corrected then, but at the end of the day a de-cat is a hollow piece of tube, very cheap, and sports cats are very expensive and certainly not "better", they are mainly for cars which compete in motorsport that need to have a cat/people who have more money than sense and to lazy to put the cat back in for mot's/people who who dont want to drive an "illegal" car which is fair enough

i used to have a sports cat and i would highly rate them if you have the money tbh

Oh no, i'm not suggesting it. Yes they make the exhaust really robust because (not sure but i think the saxsport) is made with the cat welded into the main construction. But it is far far cheaper just to swap the decat over at mot time.

yea you can buy pugsorts with cats in but they are much more expensive so ive never seen one in real life lol i have just fitted a mk2 supersprint exhaust which means i didnt have to have a decat, so its just one long pipe, i bought a standard exhaust for mot then sold it straight after lol

can anyone with a decated vts comment on bad mpg cause of the decat?
if thats the case id rather just fork out for a sports cat would be cheaper in the long run

i have the decat saxsport system and my mpg isnt great, i got 56 miles to £10 of petrol whatever that works out mpg wise

That's about right if you have a heavy foot and cane it everyware lol, with gentle driving I got 80 miles out of £10 decat ftw and the make the exhaust raspy. With a cat my exhaust sounded hollow and tinny I hated the cat lol

I've got a saxsport system, my MPG seems to be fine. Ideally you should sleave the sensor (not unplug it), i think this stops the over fueling issue.

However i wrapped the sensor in foil (because it gets hot) to protect it from the wet etc, then cable tied it out of the way. No lights have appeared on the dash and its been fitted for about 3 months now? hope this helps. oh and it sounds awesome, pops nicely too

My mpg with a de-cat saxport is quite good actually, 250 miles of £30.
    Defiently go for the de-cat.
