legal to drive around with panels missing?

  1. #1
Im planning on getting some panels resprayed so will obviously have to take them off so it means i'll be driving back home from the bodyshop with no bonnet and no n/s front wing. Is this legal or will i get my car taken away by the rozzers?

Think you will find this is illegal dude as the wing and bonnet are covers to cover up jagged edges etc etc,

Just leave your car at the bodyshop and get a lift off a pal home, just to be on the safe side,

someone correct me if im wrong,

No, illegal, very. You'll have too many moving parts uncovered

Getting a lift wont be easy as all my mates are working 2 jobs...I was planning on risking it as its only about 20mins drive from my house.

or maybe i can tape up bin liners as a substitute and the cops would be non the wiser?

Minimum 3 points, probably loss of car and a healthy fine. I'd just get a cab.

The punishment for killing someone by running them over doesn't bear thinking about. You'll also get a whole load of shit under the bonnet too

No problem. Personally I'd want to leave the car with them so they could match the paint anyway

Technically you don't need a bonnet for mot as removing will leave no jagged edges on the side

Could you not just take the bonnet and wings off at your house then take them up in a mates car??? Means you can still work on yours etc if its at yours?

illegal and your car will get a proibition notice on it for this as its not road worthy then your mot will be void and you will have to get the car motd again its not illegal to not have a bannet but not having a wing is as the wheel will be sticking out past the arch as the arch is not there
