dont you need to change the Driveshafts aswell? and gearbox? but suppose you can still use the 1.1 but wont the same top end though.

you better off saving up and waiting to get a VTS... imo

    P.s

    I say anything between £800-1200

Don't forget that you should also upgrade the brakes & suspension, tell DVLA & insurance company about the swop.

as above, dont think changing the engine will be a good option for cheaper running costs by cheating the system
  13. #13
Id rather to the conversion because Ive spent too much on my 1.1 already and wont get any of the money back anyway
And a flat arch vts would be pretty mint?

its your car mate do it if you want you can do it on the cheap if you want, if you go to a scrappy you could easily pick up vtr/s suspension/brake set up pretty cheap and then an engine and everything you need would be about £300 i would invest in new drive shafts/clutch though they are something you dont want to take chances with

its easily done in a day, dont see why the price needs to be so high. especially when its only a 2nd job. get paid enough on my main job

it covers the wear tear on my tools and engine hoists, the cost of my garage. The fact that i hate doing engine conversions. It is still 50% less than most garages so .......
    Fair play to you though

at the end of the day if you havge the skills you can charge what ever people will pay and most people would pay £250 for a conversion, and if you want to charge £250 thats your privilege to do so, your not forcing people to pay it at the end of the day

I wasnt looking for prices off labour, wanted to know the prices on average of all the parts I need
  19. #19
dont you need better brakes etc?
  20. #20
tbh mate for £150 id pay that just to save you the hassle of getting your hands dirty lol

also your question is very vague, as everything is gonna be second hand its hard to tell
if your gonna do it all the parts i think you need are the following
    -engine
    -manifold
    -g/box
    -loom
    -ecu
    -vts rad
    -vts fan
    -rad hoses
    -drive shafts
    -hubs
    -wishbones
    -arb
    -vtr/s/266mm brakes

while you at it your probably gonna want to change the suspension bushes/exhaust/lowering springs/new discs and pads, saves time taking it all off again

You can get everything for the conversion easily for around £350, theres always a few on e-bay. Try to get one that you can see running before its removed from the car as people tend to bull shit about mileage and service history and so on. Also there is the new oil, filters, plugs ect that need doing then your excellent price of £150 from williamsvts on top. Id save up around the £700 mark to cover the unexpected as theres always something!!!!!

a grage was going to charge me £100 to fit my vts engine in my 1.1 which i thought was pritty cheap but i ended up fitting it my self as i wanted to get some more experience doing stuff with the engine all together all my stuff for my vts conversion cost me about £400
