help on alloys please..

ok, i've got a dark metallic blue saxo and need some help on where to start about alloys:

if i bought alloys would i need to buy new tyres? or would it be easier to buy tyres with alloys already and just fit them?
how do all the measurments work?
do i just take them to a garage to fit & how much would it cost?
finally, what colour/style would look best? maybe post a pic for me?

haha as you can see i know nothing
    cheers guys

well first of all you need a wheel with a pcd (stud pattern) of 4x108 with an offset (how far the wheel sticks out) of around 15, it doesnt really matter if you got the wrong offset as this can be cured with spacers e.g. if you bought wheels with an offset of 35 (ford fitment) you would need 20mm spacers to bring the offset to 15, even if you bought wheels with the wrong pcd you can still fit them with hub adapters but unless its a set of ultra rare/expensive alloys just stick to direct fitment wheels as spacers and hub adapters can be pretty expensive

and obviously you only change tires if they need changing if you bought alloys with tires and they were fine then obviously you wouldnt have to change them (unless they were completely the wrong tire for your car), it usually costs more to buy wheels without tires and then to buy and fit tires on top of that

you really dont need to get a gargae to fit some wheels, its 4 bolts lol all you need is a 19mm socket/extension and a jack easy, will only take a few minutes to swap them over

and colour/style is completely down to your own taste, i personally prefer white alloys, on a dark blue vtr i think a set of vts/nimrods/307 wheels would look good and wouldnt be overly expensive

    what is your budget?

    cheers for that buddy

would buying the tyre and alloy ready together and just putting it on the car be easiest then?
would somewhere like ebay be a good place to start looking for something? i dont really have a budget as such, but would prefer cheap as poss lol!
    i like white aswell, & thanks (:

yea if you buy alloys with good tires then you dont have to go to the trouble/expense of getting a garage to fit new tires as tires alone could set you back £200 alone

id say best place to start looking is on here or 106owners, but obviously you need to get premium membership or get to 100 posts before looking in the for sale section, unless you know what you want then ebay can be a good place to start looking, but be careful with wheels id always pick them up and pay with cash, as you could end up paying over paypal and when they are delivered they could have nails in the tires/curb marks etc or even worse be bent, so go pick them up and dont be afraid to give them a good inspection and if they arent as described just walk away from them unless they will take a lower price, its always a good idea to view them before bidding but if they arent as described and you win them you dont have to pay for them

as i was saying id go for either of these wheels if you want to keep the car looking standard/subtle
    -vts wheels (15")

    -nimrods (peugeot 206 cc 16" or 14")

    -cyclones(15" or 16" cant remember, peugeot 306 gti-6)

    -307 alloys (16" i think)

cheers mate you've been a massive help for me i'm gonna go for either the vts or the nimrods

the nimrods will be a bit more expensive but they are by the better looking wheel like i said you can get 14" and 16" versions, the 14" ones look ribbish imo, id stick to the 16"s id usually say 16" wheels are too big but the nimrods are sexyyy

these are pretty cheap for £140!

pretty sure you can get 15" versions of the nimrods which came on the 406 as an option but were called ouragans, they are a direct fit for saxo's, but because they were an option they are harder to find
