Rear wheel bearing removal

  1. #1
ok, I'm just about to press my wheel bearings casing out of my rear hubs. This might sound like a daft question but i do press them from front to back like this:

    Rather than from this side:

I was adamant that i was correct, but someone at work seems to think it should be pressed out the other way, I can't see how.

    Any advice appreciated.

    anyone???

It looks impossible for them to come out the other way. I think this gadgy is talking out of his arse.
How much pressure does it take to release the bearing from the hub? They seem VERY tight.

I dont see why you would anyway, you can buy the entire hub from euro car parts for £60.

saves pissing on pushing the barings out

As said above, the norm is to replace the hub assembly complete.

But, I'd have thought, they would be pressed in from the back, so pressed out from the front. Don't quote me on that though. I've never done one. lol.

Cheers for that, I tried to press them out but it was having none of it, tried heating and oiling, absolutely solid.

Any specific hub/bearing assembly to go for? Are the gti ones the same?
